Covid 19 Vaccination

Vaccination is the most important thing you can do to protect your community against serious illnesses.  When enough people get vaccinated, it’s harder for a disease to spread to those who can’t have vaccines.

We know many people are interested in the COVID-19 vaccination and want to assure you that we are working through a priority list set by the Department of Health.

As per Health and Social Care Board Guidelines, Loughview Medical are giving the first dose of the vaccine to the following groups in the following order:

  1. Over 80 year olds
  2. Over 75 year olds
  3. Over 70 year olds
  4. Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (CEV) patients
  5. At Risk (long term health conditions - eligible for flu vaccination)
  6. Carers

We are currently working on our "At Risk" register.  This is a large group and we are working through it as fast as we can.  Please be patient. If you have not been invited to attend and fall into groups 1-4, please ring us for an appointment.

We are using the Astra Zeneca vaccine which is a two dose vaccine.  You will be notified when to attend when you are due your second vaccine.

Please note that we are unable to give the vaccine, if you have had another vaccination (eg. flu) within the last 7 days, are on a course of antibiotics, are displaying symptoms of Covid 19 or have tested positive for Covid 19 within the last 28 days.  We will be happy to reschedule.

If you are invited to attend and are unable to make it, please let us know.  These vaccines must be used within 6 hours of the vial being opened. If you are available to attend at short notice, please let us know as sometimes there is an extra dose in a vial which can be used.
