Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
Community Midwives run antenatal clinics each Wednesday afternoon in Kircubbin by appointment only and also Monday mornings in Portavogie Community Centre.

The district nurses provide nursing care in the home for those patients unable to come to the surgery. They are closely involved in the provision of care to terminally ill patients being cared for at home. Macmillan Nurses work alongside doctors, nurses and other professionals to meet the needs of patients suffering from cancer. They help the patients and their carers achieve the best possible quality of life. Requests for a Macmillan Nurse should be made via a GP, district nurse or other medical professional.
